The West Central Ohio Manufacturing Consortium (WCOMC) will offer its next Basic Pathway Class on Mondays and Wednesdays 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the West Central Ohio Community Action Partnership (formerly LACCA), corner of Kibby and Central, Lima. This course will run September 11 to November 15.
A part of this course will include two visits to the Rhodes State College campus, one of which will be to take WorkKeys assessments. These three assessments cover Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Reading for Information. Scores on these assessments determine the certificate level—bronze, silver, gold, or platinum—an individual can earn. They can take their test results and market themselves in their pursuit of jobs as these tests are recognized by thousands of employers. Tests and the certificates they earn are no cost to the student.
The other campus visit includes a session in which students will receive hands-on training on troubleshooting with the college’s integrated systems simulator.
In addition, the class covers basic math and measurement, quality, continuous improvement, safety in the workplace, communication, teamwork and other soft skills. Students will also create or upgrade their resumes, complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and register on the Ohio Means Jobs website.
Complete the 10 -week course and earn a certificate, receive information on continuing education programs and other events to enhance students’ opportunities for employment.
Interested persons may register by calling the WCOMC at 419-995-8353.
