The West Central Ohio Manufacturing Consortium (WCOMC) will offer its next Basic Manufacturing Pathway class at Rhodes State College May 8-24. Classes will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9 am to 2 pm. This class is available at no cost, thanks to a Community Development Block Grant from the City of Lima.
This course includes National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) tests. These three WorkKeys assessments cover Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Reading for Information. Scores on these assessments determine the certificate level—bronze, silver, gold, or platinum—an individual can earn. They can take their test results and market themselves in their pursuit of jobs as these tests are recognized by thousands of employers. Tests and the certificates they earn are no cost to the student.
This class includes a module in which students will receive hands-on training on troubleshooting an integrated systems unit.
In addition, the class covers basic math and measurement, quality, continuous improvement, safety in the workplace, communication, teamwork and other soft skills. Students will also create or upgrade their resumes, complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and register on the Ohio Means Jobs website.
Complete the 3 -week course and earn a certificate, referrals for employment, weekly job openings, job fairs and other events to enhance students’ opportunities for employment.
